They are grown in more than 130 countries worldwide.  Bananas are native to tropical southeastern Asia but are widely cultivated in the tropical region of other parts of the world. Banana is a herbaceous flowering plant arising from the underground rhizome.               Now the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has warned that wild banana species are rapidly going extinct as Indian forests are destroyed while many farmers varieties are also disappearing from the fields.
